• Make a list: As an educator, what really good ideas have you come up with?
  • Do you have any actual teaching materials for those ideas that you can post immediately? Start by posting the content, with a brief explanation. You can always improve your submission later. Remember: Wikis are about collaboration. If you post your work, somebody else can improve it for you. It's a joint effort.
  • For good ideas that you never wrote up before, use this as an opportunity to write up something. As always, with a wiki, you don't have to seek perfection. Put something in writing, and get it onto the wiki.
  • Wikispaces is fairly easy to use. You can do a lot just by using your intuition. However, Wikispaces does provide resources for newcomers. Since you are an educator, start by using this Getting Started page for teachers: http://help.wikispaces.com/file/view/K-12_handout_052610.pdf
  • Look for upcoming podcasts about Wikulum.
  • Come to the weekly Wikulum support group, most Saturdays from 10:00-11:00 am, in Ed Breaux's virtual office. Click on this link when it's close to 10:00: https://sas.elluminate.com/m.jnlp?password=M.84455C71A34770D2DF982A968CDA7C&sid=2009370. If you have difficulty entering the session, send an e-mail to Ed Breaux at edwin.breaux (at) pacyber.org. (You can also send an e-mail if you would like to ask questions outside of the Saturday sessions.)

IMPORTANT: When you post content, please remember to observe copyright law. Teachers normally have a little latitude under Fair Use practices, but the Fair Use exception doesn't apply once you post something on the Internet. As a prudent practice, provide links to sites rather than copying content from the sites. You can write your own brief summary of the information on the site, as long as you give credit to the author and include the link explicitly. For a good introduction, check out the Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_law_of_the_United_States
