This high school level unit consists of developing an essay and multimedia project geared toward an audience of teachers and instructional supervisors. Their work answers the questions below:
What is important for teachers and ISs to know about you as an individual learner?
What is important for teachers and ISs to know about your generation of learners?
Why does it matter that they know this information?
Students first explore several issues in relation to themselves:
Why they came to PA Cyber.
How they like to learn.
What they think it would be helpful to share with teachers and ISs about themselves.
Why is it important to share such information with teachers and ISs?
Students then work (independently or in small groups) to explore the characteristics of the Millennial Generation, or Generation WE:
What are the generation's trends with technology?
What are the generation's trends with learning?
How does this generation differ from previous generations?
What benefit is this information to teachers and ISs?
What do you want teachers and ISs to do with this information?
Students can now draft their persuasive essays for their intended audience of teachers and ISs with information relevant to themselves and their generation. Upon completion, students turn their essays into multimedia projects like podcasts, vodcasts, and PowerPoints.
